these are the days

These really are the days. Days full of love, exhaustion, joy, constant noise, sword fights, real fights, messy rooms, dirty toilets, laughter, crying, new experiences, time outs, millions of questions, Legos, runny noses, homework, spilled milk, stress, baby squeals, skinned knees, dirty diapers, and lots & lots of happiness.

All of these days really run together. They just keep happening, one after another. One second we live with a newborn and the next we have a squealing baby who rolls around and jumps in his jumper. I wake up to find that a real kid has replaced my toddler, and suddenly he's pronouncing words differently and taking his own plate to the sink. And the child who just started kindergarten is now reading, playing basketball, and playing video games. These days are flying by, and they add up together to create one beautiful life.

These are only snapshots, just tiny glimpses, of these very full days. Days that happen so quickly yet never seem to end. Days that simultaneously fill me with joy and completely overwhelm me with stress and exhaustion. Days that I never want to forget.
