We kicked off the weekend Friday night by having Scott, Melissa & Emma over to eat chili. Earlier in the day it had been rainy and it just felt like a chili day to me. Of course, the rest of the weekend it was over 100 degrees and so humid. Oh well. Shockingly, I have no pictures from Friday night!
Saturday was the big birthday! When Sam woke up we all went into his room wearing Mater party hats and singing Happy Birthday. He had the funniest look on his face until we finished singing and gave him his own hat, then he had a big smile! We went straight downstairs and gave him his presents.
Noah picked out this stuffed dog for Sam all by himself. Sam is a big fan of Noah's "Woofie" but Woofie is very much Noah's! So he thought Sam would like one of his own. It isn't exactly the same but it does the trick and has been added to the menagerie of animals that Sam-O sleeps with. He named him "New Woofie" :)
Of course we had to play with his new toys for a little bit! He is a big fan of his new wooden Cars for the train table.
Next up: birthday breakfast! The birthday boy loved his special donut. Just another way he and his brother are so different. Noah would gag if we gave him a donut covered in chocolate and sprinkles! ha.
Of course we had to do something extra fun for the big day, so we headed out to the zoo! This was the first zoo trip that I feel like Sam was really able to enjoy and experience outside of the confines of a stroller :) We haven't been in awhile because our membership expired and then it just got so HOT, but we were able to Sam a new membership with his birthday money from Mama Dot (thank you!!) and I know he is going to love it!! He was amazed by all the animals. One funny to remember: before we left he kept asking if we were going to see dinosaurs at the zoo :)
The new cheetah exhibit was great! (well, minus the clear view of the street right behind their fence). Keep it up, LR Zoo! I hope we got more nice, new exhibits like the cheetahs and the penguins.
Saturday night Micah & Kelsey came over to watch the Razorbacks game, and to celebrate with Sam too! We had red cupcakes for the occasion.
The fun didn't stop there, yay for a 3-day weekend! Yesterday we got some things done at home and just enjoyed a day "off", and then in the evening we headed over to the country club for the Labor Day celebration. Bouncers, balloon animals, hill-sliding, and fireworks! Good times!
