easter love

I. Love. Easter. I love it for so very many reasons. Obviously first is the celebration of what Jesus did for us on the cross, and that He lives! Ahhhh I just love having this special time set aside to really reflect on that, to focus on who He is, and to worship with that on the forefront of my mind. This is one of my favorite videos to watch every year at this time, it's such a powerful description of Jesus.

There's so much else that I love about Easter, too. Dyeing and hunting eggs, spending time with family, and, yes, dressing up the kids. We enjoyed all these things and more over the weekend.

Friday morning we dyed eggs at Mimi & Papa Jim's house, an annual tradition. We also had a yummy brunch, an egg hunt, decorated cookies, and the kiddos built bunny nests outside for the Easter Bunny to leave their baskets in.

Saturday we headed over to the country club for the egg hunt, petting zoo, and brunch. Noah adored holding the bunnies, as always, and both of the big boys had fun hunting for eggs. Sam was cracking me up because he wanted to open each of the eggs as he picked them up, so he didn't get quite as many as he could have otherwise :)

(Noah was so excited to see his teacher there!)

(not a fan of the squealing pigs!)

Sunday the boys were super excited to find that the EB had left baskets of goodies and hidden eggs in the yard. Then they even cooperated with me when I wanted to take pictures of them before church, hallelujah! All that before 9:00 am church, not too bad!

We brought Silas into the church service with us that morning because we just haven't been able to really pull the trigger on the nursery yet. He gave us a little Easter treat by being a perfect angel the whole time. I was really thankful to be able to just enjoy the service.

The last Easter event of the weekend was lunch at Mimi & Papa Jim's house. It was a yummy spread including fried chicken, ham, deviled eggs, delicious veggies, and Mimi's carrot cake plus a new recipe for coconut cake that I tried out. And of course, the EB visited over there too and left baskets in the boys' bunny nests.

It truly was a lovely weekend! In addition to all this there was a baseball game, a few trips to the golf course, bike riding, plenty of cousin time, and lots of outdoor play. Another wonderful Easter is in the books, and now it feels like Spring has officially arrived! Bring on the seersucker and sandals!
