This morning Emma Louise Duncan made an early appearance into the world! She arrived about 2 months early, weighing 3 lbs. 7 oz. and measuring 16 1/2 inches long. She is tiny and PRECIOUS.
This morning Melissa started bleeding, and it turned out that her placenta was detaching. She was rushed into the operating room and exactly ONE minute after she arrived in the room, Emma was out! She was, of course, taken to the NICU where she will be for awhile. But the neonatologist said she really looks good and they just need her to grow! They say she should be home by Christmas.
Melissa is still having problems and we pray she feels better very soon. Her blood pressure is still really high, and actually spiked after delivery, so they have started her on a medication that should help but will also make her feel pretty awful for about 24 hours. Thankfully they were able to wheel her back to the NICU to see her baby girl before they started the medication. In addition to all that, she has been in quite a bit of pain from the surgery. Since it was such a rush and her BP was high, she wasn't able to get an epidural. They just knocked her out and got Emma out of there! So as she woke up, the pain was pretty bad but they are giving her meds to regulate it.
We are so blessed to have precious Emma here, and we just ask everyone to continue praying for Melissa, Emma and Scott throughout this process.
